"EAT BREAKFAST, SAVE THE WORLD"
Mom was right...after a good breakfast you're at your best. That's why at the Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale South, we look forward to our weekly Friday breakfast at the Tower Club. It's the perfect way to end the week, join friends and review important projects. These projects focus on improving the lives of our neighbors, as well as those who are continents away. We also have a guest speaker as the morning highlight.
Every group has its own personality. You'll find that in Rotary Club Fort Lauderdale South there are many individuals all uniquely contributing to the club spirit. Our members represent virtually all professions and positions - both male and female. A few of us are retired. A few are just starting out in their professional careers. What we all have in common is the desire to make our lives more useful to those who would thank us in person if they could. Knowing that we've made a positive difference is all the thanks we need.
"What We've Done, Are Doing, And Are Planning To Do"
There are over 30,000 Rotary Clubs in the world, and they work together to bring service to their communities. Through hard work, Rotary International has helped to rid our continent of polio and is working to eliminate it from our planet. Due to a primary objective of a peaceful world, Rotary was instrumental in the formation of the United Nations and has received its own Nobel Peace Prize. Our Ambassadorial Scholarship Fund, the largest of any private organization in the world, is designed to underwrite better human understanding between countries.
On a local level, our Rotary Club has supported programs to send wheelchairs to people in South Africa and Ecuador. We have painted and renovated homes for the less fortunate in our community. We have forged a friendship with the Ann Storck Center, and the Pantry of Broward. You're bound to find us at many community events where we find time to have fun while we raise money.
Mom was also right about the Golden Rule and sharing with others. Wherever she may be - wouldn't she be proud that you paid attention and joined us on Fridays. We'll have breakfast, and save the world!
